Overview

A hilly walk (846ft ascent) in Cranborne Chase NL and Selwood Forest, taking in the scattered hamlets in Bourton, Pen Selwood, Zeals and Silton parishes in the counties of Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire. Glorious views to the south and west, as far as Glastonbury Tor on a clear day! The walk follows paths, bridleways and mostly quiet country lanes including the Monarch’s Way and the Stour Valley Way. Sticks may be an advantage on uneven, sloping and currently still muddy/wet ground and to bash shoulder high nettles and brambles in the bocage. Wear shorts at your own risk! Only two stiles. Shortcuts to the finish available if you run out of steam towards the end.  Bring snack.
