This walk is part of the Saltmarsh Trail and starts in the picturesque coastal town of Burnham on Crouch. We then head along the coast inland to Southminster. This is a varied walk where we take in villages, coast and countryside.
In Southminster there is the option to the visit Wibbers Brewery, where they will be doing a Christmas tasting session (ho-ho-ho). They offer food as well.
Parts of the walk maybe muddy, so walking boots are recommended. There will be a short snack stop (just over half way) to refresh on route.
Transport back is via train from Southminster to Burnham. There is the option to continue onto Wickford and change for Chelmsford (if coming by train). The trains leave Southminster every 40 minutes and we have timed the walk to coincide with train times (if seeking to head off when completing the walk).
The group walk at a steady pace of 2.5 miles an hour, and there is requirement of all walkers to respect the general pace.
Numbers are strictly limited and places need to be prebooked with the walk leader.
Please also note that this walk is subject to any rail timetable changes being made nearer the event.
