The walk is very flat and is very good underfoot.
We will start from The Dog and Partridge and will walk along minor roads, tracks and canal towpaths to Slade Heath and back in a figure of eight.
We will stop for a lunch break at around two thirds distance, so please bring your own refreshments.
The Dog and Partridge is available for food and hot drinks and other beverages after the walk.
UPDATE:
Please note that the Straight Mile road is blocked beneath the M6, and access to the pub is best via the red or green routes shown on the map attached. I think this is a lot easier than it might sound, but please have a look at your route before setting out.
If you are approaching from the Huntington/Cannock direction: Pink Route:
Follow your SatNav to the A5/Watling St at Four Crosses and Tumbledown Farm. Instead of continuing straight across into Four Crosses Lane, turn right towards the M6 junction. At the lights shortly before the M6, turn left into Vicarage Lane. (your SatNav should be OK again now). After crossing the M6 there is a turning on your left into Stable Lane which takes you to the Straight Mile. Turn left for the pub. Alternatively, continue along Vicarage Lane to the next turning (Straight Mile) as shown on the map, and continue towards the pub.
If you are approaching from the west via Penkridge/Gailey/A449 your access is OK: Green Route:
At the junction/lights at the site of the Four Ashes pub, turn left up Station Road. After the canal bridge take the first right into Straight Mile. You will see the pub on your right just before the motorway bridge.
