This walk follows the Arkle Beck to Arkle Town before starting a long but gradual ascent on to Calver Hill. Fabulous views of Arkengarth Dale can be enjoyed as we cross a number of fields. (There are a number of very narrow stone stiles to negotiate on this section)
We walk through heather moors on a path traversing Calver Hill and there should be an abundance of bird song and further wonderful views this time of Swaledale. Our route returns to Reeth by way of a well defined path with a gradual descent with the small hamlet of Healaugh and the Swale below.
There are no toilet or refreshment facilities other than in Reeth.
Not suitable for dogs. Anyone wanting to meet at the starting point should let the walk leader know in advance.
