We’ll walk in the footsteps of ancient pilgrims on the Two Saints Way as we walk through a varied landscape of woodland, farmland, meadow, meandering rivers and working mills. Our final stretch is along a “quintessential English lane” lined with beautiful old oak trees and wild flowers, aptly named Cross in Hand lane as we approach our final destination of Lichfield Cathedral. Bring your own packed lunch and plenty of water, although we will aim for a gentle pub stop at Gentleshaw en route.
This walk is LINEAR so if you come by car, you will have to make your own way back to the starting point (there are buses from Lichfield on the half hour until 17.30; otherwise an Uber is around £15). There is a large free car park off Holly Hill Road opposite the Park Gate Inn and near Cannock Wood Castle Ring where our walk proper begins. If driving, arrive by 10.50am. For those coming on public transport: a train arrives from Birmingham New Street at Lichfield City at 10.13. Bus No 62 from Lichfield Bus station Stand 7 at 10.30 arrives Cannock Wood opposite Chapel Lane at 10.54. We will walk from there to meet any drivers at the car park at 11am. Please bring a £5 note or better still, loose pound coins in case there are any problems with buses and we need to share Ubers from Lichfield City train station.
