On the 9th of January 2010, an intrepid group of explorers set out from the Metropolitan Walkers to set up a new walking group for working age people across Greater London with a walk through the snow from Eltham to North Greenwich via the Green Chain Walks and the Thames Path.
Tenth anniversary celebrations were stymied by the viral unpleasantness that was abroad in the winter of 2020-21, so we're (unusually) celebrating our 15th Anniversary with a recreation of that first walk.
On the way, we'll see some great views of London, Elthan Palace, Severndroog Castle, the Thames barrier, and the tennis courts from the final scene of Michelangelo Antonioni's Blow-Up (1966).
Travel:
Start from Eltham Station (Zone 4, Southeastern Trains). End at North Greenwich underground (Zones 2&3, Jubilee Line)
Drop Outs - The route intersects with many bus routes and goes near Charlton and Greenwich stations.
No booking required
The finishing time is an estimate only and will be dependent on a number of factors, such as weather, the speed at which the group walks and the number of breaks taken.
