Overview

Difficulty: Strenuous
Distance: 24km / 15 miles
Walk leader: Liam
Meeting point: Please read the full description for meeting instructions.

Another year, another long-distance path! It feels like just yesterday we were in London, celebrating our achievement of completing the 146 miles of Shakespeare's Way. Now, we look forward to our next adventure: the 177-mile Chiltern Way. This challenge is so extensive that it will be our first two-year endeavor.

So are you ready to explore the breathtaking beauty of the Chilterns? Join us as we walk the Chiltern Way in stages, discovering picturesque landscapes, charming villages, and hidden gems along the way. This long-distance trail, covering approximately 177 miles, offers a perfect mix of rolling hills, wooded paths, and open fields. From historical landmarks to cozey pubs, each stage of the Chiltern Way promises new discoveries and delightful experiences.

Section 2 kicks off at Chalfont St Giles and heads down to Marlow Bottom.

Since this is a linear walk, we will need to coordinate transport to ensure everyone can get back to the starting point. If you are driving, please meet at 110 Marlow Bottom.

We will then carpool to Blizzards Yard Car Park for the start of the walk. After completing the walk, the cars left at Marlow Bottom will ferry people back to Chalfont. If you joined us for sections of the Ridgeway or Shakespeare's Way, this routine will be familiar.

We may then have a drink at Merlin’s Cave if there is interest.

This section is fairly hilly, with 500m of ascent and it is expected to be very muddy, so sturdy walking boots are strongly advised.

The walk is dog friendly but please ensure they are kept on leads at all times. We will be passing through fields with livestock and there are a number of stiles on the walk.

Dress warmly and bring plenty of drinks, a packed lunch and waterproofs.
