This walk climbs gradually towards Ringinglow, via Long Line and the Limb Valley, then continues to Clough Hollow, Brown Edge Quarries, and Rud Hill, the high point for the day. Then down to Fulwood Lane and the upper rim of the lovely Mayfield Valley, before descending on a path beside Fulwood Booth Farm to the end of the lowest Redmires Reservoir. Finally an easy and familiar path to finish at Lodge Moor bus terminus.
Bus no 272 Castleton bus from Interchange at 09.46. Alight on Hathersage Road at intersection of Long Line/Cross Lane - two stops after Whirlow Bridge.
There is a mixture of terrains - some road walking, some rough moorland with boggy patches after rain, some fields, and also some woodland with exposed roots to navigate. The ascent is gradual. So mostly straightforward apart from some rougher and uphill parts! There should be lots of views to admire.
Please check website again for any changes. No dogs please. There may be cows in fields or on the moor. Leader can be contacted on 07833 160187, by text please.
