A circular walk descending through lovely woodlands to the River Wye via ?"King Arthur's Cave" and one of the best wild viewpoints over the gorge of Symonds Yat (NB easily avoided for anyone with vertigo). After relaxing along the riverside tracks and lanes we begin a long steady ascent which eases off and passes by the many former enclosures made for those who worked in the woodlands and quarries. The scars have healed to form many small nature reserves and places of geological interest.
Best to have a walking pole with you. The paths are rocky in places and could be slippery. NO DOGS.
Text leader to book. This walk will be limited to 20 people.
Access by car from the A40 signposted to Crockers Ash. From the crossroads in Crockers Ash follow the brown signs for Doward Park Campsite all the way up the lane. Turn right beside the entrance to Doward Park Campsite signposted King Arthur's Cave. At the end of the track there is a popular free informal car park, please leave space for others.
