Overview

A pleasant walk alongside riverside, and through woodland and fields. From Comrie the route heads down to Cultybraggan Camp (a former POW camp) following the riverside path alongside the Water of Ruchil. After exploring the Camp we will head back along the riverside path towards Ruchilside and then follow tracks across the fields to Cowden where the route joins a path that was once the Comrie to Dunblane Road and winds up through the Bogton Braes to Glasscombe Road. Glasscombe Road passes through woodland and leads to Mill of Fortune where a path is joined that takes us across fields to a track leading to Drummondernoch. From Drummondernoch the route drops down to the South Crieff Road and another riverside footpath that follows the River Earn back to Comrie. Mainly riverside paths and farm tracks. About one kilometre or so on public roads. Paths may be muddy in wet weather and uneven where they run along field margins. There are a couple of small but steep sided gullies to negotiate where the path enters an area of old gravel workings in woodland by the river. If river levels are high an alternative route is available.
