Probably the finest ridge walk in the Purbeck area, this walk starts at Norden near Corfe Castle, ascends the ridge at Corfe and follows the Purbeck Way towards the coast. It then joins the South West Coast Path to descend to Swanage. Return to Corfe or Norden by steam train on the heritage Swanage Railway. Panoramic views across Purbeck, Swanage and Poole harbour. Good walking but mainly on exposed ridge. Two steep ascents, a steep descent to Swange and 2 stiles. Refreshment options at Swanage or Corfe Castle on return. Total ascent 1240 ft. See https://www.swanagerailway.co.uk/calendar for train and fare details. (Current ticket price £12)
Anyone wishing to bring an assistance dog is advised to contact walk leader before day of walk to check suitability of stiles and also to check additional ticket prices for dogs on railway.
Everyone is welcome. If you would like to join this walk, please notify the walk leader (Phil H 07831379129) or email swrsundaywalks@gmail.com.
If you would like to car share, please let the walk leader know when you book and we will hopefully be able to facilitate this.
There will be two stops during the day for coffee and lunch (please bring a picnic)
