Overview

A very pleasant and interesting walk following part of the Clyde Walkway to reach Baron's Haugh, an RSPB reserve on what was once the Duke of Hamilton's Dalzell Estate. It is possible to spot varied birdlife including gadwall, mute swan, widgeon, sand martin and nuthatch. The route passes through woodland to reach the Hamilton Family Mausoleum, Lord Gavin Hamilton's Temple and St Patrick's Well. The 800 year old Covenanter's Oak and Dalzell House are also on this route.

The walk is along riverside, woodland and parkland paths that are mainly flat with a short rise of about 350 feet.

Toilets and a cafeteria are situated in the Watersports Centre, Strathclyde Loch, a few hundred yards from the car park and start/end of the walk.
