A high level Dartmoor walk covering the open moorland to the north of Two Bridges. The walk can be extended or shortened depending on the day's weather, the conditions underfoot and the speed we cover the ground, but for the moment I'm assuming the route will be as follows:
Two Bridges to the Devonport Leat and follow the leat up to its starting point on the West Dart River, then
the three Beardown Tors
Lydford Tor
Devil's Tor / Beardown Man standing stone
Rough Tor
Crow Tor
Cross the West Dart River then climb to Lower White Tor
Higher White Tor
Longaford Tor
Both of the Littaford Tors
Crockern Tor
and descend westwards to pick up the track that leads back to Two Bridges.
As we walk northwards alongside the Devonport Leat during the morning there will be great views across the West Dart Valley towards Wistman's Wood and Longaford Tor.
The terrain underfoot will be quite rough in places out towards Devil's Tor and Rough Tor, so please wear walking boots.
The walk starts at 10:00 from the car park on the other side of the road from the hotel at Two Bridges. Car sharing is recommended as the car park is small. We may be able to use the hotel car park for a fee, but it's not always available so we can't rely on this.
The most likely finishing time will be around 5pm.
Refreshments after the walk, either at the Two Bridges Hotel, or somewhere else nearby.
