Draycote water is a reservoir owned and operated by Severn Trent Water to supply water to Rugby and Coventry. It is also home to a sailing club, a trout fishery, a small country park and a lot of bird life. Most of this walk is around the reservoir and dogs are not permitted around the reservoir. For this reason it is not possible for dogs to join.
We start at the visitor hub and go around the reservoir shore line, crossing the dam wall to the valve tower. Leaving the dam we dip into the delightful hamlet or Draycote where we connect into the disused Rugby to Leamington railway track. Departing this we cross the Draycote Meadows SSSI and then Whitefields golf course to the village of Thurlaston perched on the ridge above Draycote Water before descending back to the visitor hub.
