We are the Manchester Coach Rambles Group. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Coach leaves Chorlton Street at 8.50 am, picking up in Sedgeley Park at approx 9.10 and Prestwich at approx 9.15
Four walks (no walk A)
Walk 1 (B walk). Strenuous. 10 miles with mountain. Leader Mary C.
Linear from Elterwater: Long steep climb via Walthwaite Bottom, Dow Crag, Spedding Crag, Brigstone Moss, under Lang How, Castle How, Blea Rigg to Sergeant Mann (2404 ft); steep descent to Stickle Tarn, descent to Sticklebarn and car park. 2749 ft ascent.
Walk 2 (C walk). Moderate. 8.5 miles. Leader Ian
Linear from Skelwith Bridge via Elterwater, Oak How, Stool End, Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, Sticklebarn. 975 ft ascent.
Walk 3 (D walk). Easy. 6 miles. Leader Dave G
Circular: New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, Kirk Howe, Cumbria Way, Stake gill, Mickleton Bec, Stool End, Middle Fell Farm, Sticklebarn car park
Walk 4. Very easy. 3 miles. Leader Geoff
Coach will go back to Ambleside for a short walk/boat trip, then come back to Sticklebarn car park, before 6pm to pick the other parties up.
Coach will leave Dungeon Ghyll at 6 p.m.
The ground may be muddy so please wear suitable footwear. Please bring a change of shoes, boot covers or something to clean your boots before getting back on the coach.
