Overview

Climb steadily along Stane Street initially in Eartham Wood before coming on to open downland. Turn to Gumber Farm, taking the path in front of the cottages to re-enter woodland (2mi). Continue, mainly in woodland, to reach Houghton Forest (4mi). Climb steadily for 2 miles before following an undulating path (7mi). Returning to Eartham Wood the path descends, steeply at first, back to the start.
