A lovely walk in an area of outstanding natural beauty, yet also an area shaped by man.
We begin by walking along the Elan Valley Bike Trail, originally the Birmingham Corporation Railway (built between 1893 and 1896 to carry building materials for the dams).
Then onto the Wye Valley Walk and over the Glyn Bridge ( a bouncy and shaky river crossing, see photo!)
Using tracks and footpaths, through beautiful, ancient oak woodland, taking time to admire the vast, expansive views we return to the Visitor Centre.
There are two steep ascents and a couple of descents on rocky and challenging terrain, including uneven steps.
We could offer an eight mile cut off walk which would avoid second ascent and the two tricky descents. This may appeal to anyone who doesn't like tricky, uneven paths.
If you would like to join this walk, please book a place with the leader. If you are unable to attend, please cancel your booking so that someone else can take your place. If you turn up without booking, we may have to turn you away.
Registered assistance dogs only.
Bring a packed lunch.
Car sharing is encouraged to minimise car parking, fuel cost and carbon footprint.
