From Ardmay Park, we walk up and over 100 Acres Hill, using paths through local green spaces and taking in views of Toryglen and Castlemilk. Proceeding along Kingsbridge Drive, leads to Bankhead Road, where a shortcut along Jenny's Burn(K/A Cityford Burn) leads to Overtoun Park, Rutherglen's traditional municipal park. After some urban walking, including an underpass, along Mill Street and Glasgow Road, we continue through several playing fields parallel to the railway line, leading to Mall Mire Community Woodland and Nature Reserve (2015), Urban Roots garden project and Toryglen Park, the location of exercise equipment for all ages and abilities, before returning to the starting point.
The early stages of 100 Acre Hill include slopes and steps, with handrails; otherwise it is flat, on park paths and pavement, so trainers or sturdy shoes should suffice. Toilets(if required), midway, at Rutherglen Aldi, are close to the 90 bus route which goes past the start point, for those preferring a shorter walk. The Beechwood, a local pub, is conveniently located at the meeting point for refreshments after the walk.
