Join us for a lovely autumnal walk from the historic town of Hebden Bridge. We start at the train station, waiting for anyone who has arrived by train - and then head uphill above Hebden Bridge to the village of Heptonstall where we will visit the church ruins.
After Heptonstall we walk along to Hardcastle Crags which should be full of autumnal colours. We will follow the river until we reach Gibsons Mill where we will stop for lunch (cafe and toilets available!)
After lunch we head up and across Shackleton Moor with sweeping views across the valley, seeing Stoodley Pike in the distance. We then reach Crimsworth Dean and follow this valley back down towards Hardcastle Crags. From here we walk back into Hebden Bridge along the river where there are lots of pubs, so we can pop for a drink before heading home.
Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead.
There are various car parks in Hebden Bridge. The nearest to the train station is a pay and display (approx £4) Station Road Car Park - HX7 8AU.
Trains are currently scheduled from York to Hebden Bridge via Leeds - 8.50 from York arrives Hebden Bridge via Leeds at 10.10. Do check the timetable nearer the time and if you plan to travel by train please let Louise know, in case it runs late.
