A walk on good paths and tracks at a moderate pace. From the starting point it's a steady uphill walk on a miner's road and then a steep climb up Red Gate after crossing Carrock Beck. On reaching the top of Carrock Fell ridge we then aim for the Cumbria Way. If we cannot cross the beck then we continue up the miner's road. On reaching the Cumbria Way, we follow for 3 miles the various paths and tracks that circle High Pike to arrive back at our starting point on the Cumbria Way. Having completed the circle we then climb High Pike. Our return will take us over West Fell and back to the miner's road.
