Overview

We start the fourth section of the Jorvic Way at Dunnington and finishing off at Wigginton. Please check the meeting point and travel plans below carefully. The walk starts from Dunnington at 10:00, but if you are coming by car you will need to meet at Wigginton by 09:30 to car share to the start. We will stop in Stockton on the Forest for lunch.

⚠️ Please be aware that this route does cross and go along some major roads which can be extremely busy. We will be diverting away from the Jorvic Way to miss about 1½ miles of the route to avoid the worst of these.

🚌 If you are coming by bus, the number 10 (First York) bus leaves York Station at 09:15 and Piccadilly at 09:23, arriving into Dunnington at 09:40. It is a few minutes walk from the bus stop at The Cross Keys to the meeting point on Intake Lane. There are regular buses from Wigginton back to York at the end of the walk on the number 1 and 1A (First York).

🅿️ If you are coming by car, meet at Wigginton by 09:30, where there is on-street parking around Wigginton Primary School and on nearby streets – please be considerate of residents when parking. We will then take some cars to the start of the walk at Dunnington, where there is on-street parking on The Green or Intake Lane, near the park. Please be prepared to offer others a lift before or after the walk.

🐶 Dogs are welcome but should be kept on a lead. Be aware there are multiple stiles to cross as well as fields where livestock may be grazing. We also do quite a bit of road walking so please take this into consideration. If you are bringing your dog by car then you must arrange beforehand with someone else who is happy to give you and your dog a lift to the start of the walk.

🥪 You will need to bring a packed lunch with you.
