Being the first Saturday after New Year, this is a gentle outing round Lanark Loch and surrounding paths - an opportunity to stretch the legs after the festive period and blow away the cobwebs.
The walk starts from the car park by the Equestrian Centre and goes down to Lanark Loch. We go round the loch one and a half times in an anti clockwise direction before branching off into the woods, eventually coming out onto the racecourse. We then walk to the far end of the racecourse and cross the Hyndford Road and walk up to the Langloch Farm cafe where tables have been reserved for us for an early lunch. (for anyone who hasn't been there before, they do fantastic soups). It is then a 20/30 minute walk back to the car park
It is a tarmac path round the loch, and mainly good paths within the wooded area. There is one short upward slope leaving the loch so some may find poles useful here. Round the racecourse it is well cut but damp grass. There are no gates or stiles.
