A shorter afternoon walk through lovely countryside which should take between 3 to 4 hours of walking. A temporary footpath closure means we have to stay on a quiet road out of Lingfield longer than desired but the walk soon heads out onto less trodden paths, some of which maybe overgrown, across farmland where we will probably encounter startled sheep. The walk is virtually flat but there are numerous stiles and gates, some of which are in poor condition.
At around the halfway point we will reach Crowhurst church where there is a yew tree said to be 4,000 years old. We will pause here for about 20 minutes - there are no facilities but you might want to bring a snack if you have not already had an early lunch beforehand.
After the short break the way ahead is easier going initially passing through the woodland of Ashen plantation. There is a pub for possible post walk refreshments on a straightforward route 10 minutes away along the route back to the station.
No drop out points.
No booking required.
