Welcome to a historical walk largely through green spaces, looking at a range of old buildings, many are Grade 2 listed, but in some cases their ruins or merely sites are of interest.. All of these places have special stories attached to those who lived here in bygone times. Some of these people were among the poorest, others were well off but they all have a tell to tell . It is up to us to find their stories. There are also a number of fascinating environmental features and the possibility of seeing some interesting wildlife (No promises!) We will take the 09.37 number 1 bus from AG 4 stop, in front of the transport office on Arundel Gate to the library in the centre of Firth Park shopping area, at the junction of Hucklow Road and Stubbin Lane. There is a free car park on Hucklow Road for car users. We will make our way through the park and down to Page Hall. Then we will pick up the path through Bagley Dyke woods to Longley Park where we will have our coffee break. From here we will walk up to Norwood and then through Busk Meadows and Roe Woods up to Parkwood Springs where we will have lunch at the spectacular viewing point. After lunch it is pretty much downhill all the way to Abbeyfield House. Then we make our way to Crabtree Pond Nature reserve, through the interesting district of Crabtree, and head towards to Northern General Hospital. From here walkers can either take a bus homeward or continue back to Firth Park.
