Overview

This is a one way walk from Margate train station to Herne Bay train station. Meet in the ticket hall of Margate station. Walk follows King Charles III Coast Path eastwards, first passing Westgate then Birchington.

Lunch stop will be at Reculver where there is an opportunity for a coffee (and cake!) in the cafe, beer (and lunch!) in the King Ethelbert pub or packed lunch on the picnic area near the play area.

After lunch the walk continues through the Reculver Country park and on to Herne Bay, before turning inland across the Memorial Park to the station.

The walk is mostly on paved surfaces and there are no gates or stiles. There are toilets at the start and a number en route.

There is the possibility for anyone wanting a shorter walk of about 4.5 miles to return via Birchington Station.
