This is a circular walk around South Wooden Ferrers / Marsh Farm Country Park.
Marsh Farm Country Park is surrounded on three sides by the River Crouch, Clements Green Creek and Fenn Creek, which makes it a great place for coastal walks and superb river views. It's recognised as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) because of its importance for overwintering dark bellied brent geese. It also provides an overwintering site for many species of waders and ducks in the autumn and winter. The Park is also home to a healthy population of water voles, an endangered species which can be seen in the burrow dykes and ditches alongside the river (if you're lucky!).
We will have a brief lunch stop so bring some snacks or a packed lunch, and any left-over mince pies.
Some of the paths are likely to be quite muddy so wear appropriate footwear.
There will be the option of a pub stop afterwards, which is next to the Station.
We will meet in the Station car park. Please note there is no toilet at the Station, there is a public toilet after 2 miles which we can stop at. Other than that, opportunities are scarce due to the exposed paths.
Places need to be prebooked with the walk leader
