A hilly, circular walk from West Peckham village to Mereworth, through Mereworth Woods, via Gover Hill returning to West Peckham. Part of the route is on the Weald Way and Greensand Way and will pass vineyards and orchards. West Peckham is a pretty village with a pub and St Dunstan church next to the picturesque village green. We will also see the spire of the Church of St Lawrence in Mereworth built in the Palladian style. In Mereworth Woods, we will walk through the giant redwood trees. Look out for the old boundary stones, 2 of which are in the undergrowth alongside the woodland path. There are beautiful views from Gover Hill.
Steep ascent at the start of the walk. Crossing the busy Seven Mile Lane A228 twice. It may be muddy in Mereworth Woods (wear appropriate footwear). Nibble break (bring your own refreshments) in the Swanton Valley meadow half way through the walk. Pub at the end in West Peckham.
Please arrive 10 minutes before the start of the walk to sign in and hear the walk briefing.
Walking poles are useful for the uphill sections.
Please park considerately along the road in West Peckham village.
