Overview

This is a short walk after the New Year festivities.

We cross flat fields towards Backwell, before climbing up the hills to the Jubilee Stone. We go down past Chelvey Farm to the far end of Backwell village for the lunch stop at the Rising Sun pub.

There is an opportunity to do just this part of the walk as the X1 bus back to Bristol Bus Station passes the pub along the A370.

Railway enthusiasts will notice that the title of the walk is the same as that of the railway station. We will pass this in the afternoon on the way to the coffee break at Backwell Lake. If anyone wants to do about three quarters of the walk, they could catch a train back to Bristol from there!

From the lake, we will follow the edge of Nailsea back to Wraxall House.

From Bristol, go along B3130 through Wraxall village, down the hill towards Nailsea. We will meet at  the bottom of the hill   on the left, where there is a side road outside Wraxall House. If you reach the garage at the top of the hill you have gone too far.
