The drive to Painswick is worth it on many fronts. A pretty town, great walking, wonderful scenery, variety of landscape etc.  Yes, it is up and down and the climb back to the town is steep.  However, this is one of those walks where the WOW factor applies. We set off downhill into the Painswick valley and then ascend to Wickridge Hill.  The Slad Valley is next (yes that one, Laurie Lee and Cider with Rosie). The beautiful countryside takes us next through lovely valleys to The Camp, where we turn and head back to Painswick via Jacks Green. Wonderful woodland, and wonderful valleys, what’s not to like?
