Description:

We start from the layby next to the non village side of the church and walk through the 14thC Holy Cross and St. Mary church yard and into Church Street, past the Alms Houses and some other interesting properties and stop by the Green for pre-walk refreshments at the George and Dragon Coffee Shop and Tea Room next to the Village Green (bring cash or card payment). It’s a lovely setting in a pretty Bucks village.

At about 3pm we resume walking, (or you could join us at this point by the Green) past the windmill to the East and up a cobbled path to Quainton Hill where there are wonderful views in all directions as we walk past historical earthworks and over the other side of the hill to the site of the medieval village of Fulbrook, where a moated manor house used to be (but now only a farm-house remains of the former village buildings). We loop round and back up the hill where, if the conditions allow, we can enjoy the sun setting over the beautiful landscape. We return by an alternative route on the other side of the windmill.

There will be muddy areas, some stiles and there could be inquisitive cows which roam over a large area. 165M Ascent approx

In the right conditions this is a fantastic place to enjoy the sun setting (at 4.20pm on 9/11/24) and it’s after-glow onto clouds if we are lucky.

Well behaved dogs are allowed.
