Description:
We’ll get most of the hill-climbing done early-on, starting in a North East direction, before zig-zagging up to the view-point on Chinnor Hill where we will stop for an early picnic. After lunch we walk to Crowell Hill and the Stokenchurch BT Tower. Then through part of the Aston Rowant Nature Reserve, and to Aston Rowant and Fiveways, (formerly called Crossways where the 3000 year old Lower Icknield Way crosses the medieval London Weye). From there we will make our way to Chinnor Windmill and if we make good time, take some refreshment at the C17th The Crown in Chinnor just before returning via the railway level-crossing on Keens Lane back to the start point.
If anyone would like to miss out the hill-climb at the beginning, (the rest of the walk is quite easy) and meet the rest of the group at the picnic, you could park at the Chinnor Hill carpark and Alan can drive you to your vehicle at the end of the walk.
Please bring a packed lunch. There will be some wet muddy patches later on in the walk on a bridleway and a ford to rinse mud off afterwards (with footbridge) so please wear appropriate footware.
Well behaved dogs are allowed.
