Starting off from Rockcliffe car park we follow a mixture of road and track before quickly ascending to the Mote of Mark, the site of an old fort with good views to explain its presence there. We then follow forest tracks before dropping down into and through the pretty village of Kippford.
We leave Kippford a begin a long and steep climb through woods before we eventually drop down again and follow tarmac-ed roads for a short distance (including crossing a quite busy road)! We then have another steep climb during which we pass the highest point of the walk at 84m.
A long but gradual descent then follows, passing by both Borean Loch and White Loch before we arrive at the village of Colvend. From there we follow roads back to Rockcliife where our route takes us past Rockcliffe beach and finally to the car park.
