A pleasant walk up the Avon, into Shirehampton, then up to Kings Weston Down where we can break for coffee at the house. We’ll then walk towards the Avon, get some fine views over Horseshoe Bend and return to Shirehampton. It’s mostly through green areas, apart from a short walk up through Shirehampton along the pavements. Much of the walk is surfaced but some stretches are along grass and two stretches can be muddy if we have a lot of wet weather. There is one steep, stepped climb up onto Kingsweston Down.
NOTE the start time, delayed to 10.15 to allow for the arrival of the train service into Shirehampton Station and the short walk to the start point.

We'll start and finish by the Lamplighters Pub in Shirehampton. No lunch is organised. However I’m sure the Lamplighters would welcome anyone who wanted to have a drink or eat there. We'll have a break halfway - the cafe should be open or it will be safest to bring your own refreshments.
Start Place: Explorer Map 154. We shall start outside the Lamplighters Pub, at the end of Station Road, Shirehampton. It’s past the station. For those driving: There are parking spaces outside the pub, or on Station Road leading to it. Station Road is a left hand turning off the Portway, signposted to the station. It’s just after a bridge that goes over the Portway. For those coming by train, alight at Shirehampton Station. For those coming by bus, there’s a stop on the Portway and walk down Station Road (5 mins), or go to the Park & Ride and walk back to the start from there (15 mins).
