Start place Wharncliffe Side sign, opposite Oughtibridge Valley Estate (1 stop before Wharncliffe Arms stop)
From the bus stop we will cross the new road bridge into Fox Valley Estate, Wharncliffe Wood, narrow path passing the Red Indian rock and the old Deepcar Station. We will ascend to farm, then steeply down to river then Fox Valley Retail Park (Break off point for short walk, under 5 miles)
Then to Underbank, a big climb to Wind Hill Knoll, then Bolsterstone (We might have a quick pub or outdoor break here). Its a short walk to bus at Cedar Road (Break off point for medium walk,10.2 miles). Buses are only hourly so an alternative is to walk mainly down gennels for a mile crossing road at Lidl to bus stop.(10.8 miles) where there are more buses.
The long walk descends to More Hall Reservoir, then up to Brightholmlee, Glen Howe Park and back to Wharncliffe Side.
Mainly good paths but expect a bit of mud.
Toilets at Fox Valley and Bolsterstone.
Catch 9.33 no.57 bus from Flat St to beginning of Wharncliffe Side. Cars can park on Main Rd or on Green Lane. Leader will be catching bus at Oughtibridge.
