This convoluted route follows the Sirhowy river crossing it at several locations. The route uses cycle and footpaths route, the disused railway is generally wooded, you will hear the sounds of birds and babbling river. There is a section on the disused railway where there is a sign Warning Take Care
There are a 102 steps to climb at an early stage of the walk, take it slowly to catch your breath. The majority of the walk is tree lined, providing protection from inclement weather. The footpaths/cycle routes are tarmac. The disused railway has timber sleepers with steel pins projecting, they are a trip hazard watch where you put your feet. There is a section of the railway within 1 m of the retaining wall and there is a warning notice due to a loose section of retaining wall.
I would like to thank Ramblers for the published 5 mile walk, I have used as the walk as the basis of this walk.
