Transport to Walk Start: 10:06 train from Manchester Piccadilly (final destination Crewe)

Meet Point:  Meet at Manchester Piccadilly train station. Alternatively, meet on the train or at the walk start at Stockport station. 

Suggested Ticket: Off Peak Day Return to Stockport £5.70

Walk Start: Stockport Railway Station at 10:30. The walk starts from the main entrance near the ticket office.

Waypoints: Fred Perry Way, Vernon Park, Woodbank Memoral Park, Midshire Way, Etherow-Goyt Valley Way, Waterside Farm, Chadkirk Chapel, Peak Forest Canal, Chadkirk Bridge, Bongs Road Lane, Poise Brook Local Nature Reserve, Midshire Way, Woodbank Park, Vernon Park, Stockport Market, St Petersgate, Exchange Square.

Return Services: Trains every few minutes to Manchester.

Extra: Toilets at walk start (for train travellers only). Toilets en route one mile into the walk at Vernon Park (if the cafe is open). Optional drinks at the end of the walk at Wetherspoons.

A canal, river & country/public parks' walk, taking in Stockport’s surrounding green and lush countryside along the river Goyt.

Most of the ascents are gradual and all but one has steps.

Please wear suitable footwear for walking (with a good sole - please, no sandals or Crocsas some of the paths are uneven and  muddy in parts.   

The walk may be shortened in case of poor weather.
