Train based walk

Leader: Becky L (meeting at walk start)

Meet Point: Near the ticket barriers, or on the platform at Piccadilly Station. Alternatively, meet the group on the train, or at the Walk Start at Alderley Edge station.

Transport to Walk Start: 10:06 train from Manchester Piccadilly

Suggested Ticket: GM Wayfarer £17.40.

Walk Start: Alderley Edge Railway Station at 10:45

Waypoints: Alderley Edge, Daniel Hill, Oak Road, Legh Hall, Prestbury, Bollin Valley Way, Macclesfield

Return Services: 16:06, 16:17, 16:37, 16:43 and then repeated hourly

Extra: Please use the toilet on the train. No toilets at the walk start. There are toilets at Alderley Edge and Macclesfield Riverside Park (towards the end of the walk). Optional drinks at the end at of the walk. Please do not bring your dog (apart from assistance dogs).:

This linear walk from Alderley Edge to Macclesfield takes us up to the beautiful sandstone escarpment with fantastic views over the Cheshire plains and Manchester. This is followed by a path through lovely woods to the fields of Mottram St Andrew before we join the Rover Bollin and follow the Bollin Valley Way back to Macclesfield via Prestbury

There is one steep climb from Alderley Edge town up to the Alderley Edge escarpment. The rest of the walk is over fields and along paths with minimal undulations
