We are the Brighton and Hove Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
A circular walk starting at Berwick station, walking via the Long Man of Wilmington. Stopping in Alfriston for lunch where there is a choice of cafes or picnic on the village green before returning to Berwick.
The route will involve a steep ascent (590 feet) in the first half. We will have a short stop at the Long Man after 3.9.miles and 45 mins for lunch at Alfriston. Return to Berwick for the 3.57pm train back to Brighton. Circa 6 miles before lunch, 3 after.
Accessible by public transport: Catch the 09:58am train from Brighton Station to Berwick arriving at 10.23am. Walk starts after the arrival of the train in Berwick. Walk leader will meet you at Berwick station. For drivers there is a car park at the station.
If you can, please RSVP to this walk via our Meetup site. This will give the walk leader a rough idea of how many people may be attending. If you are a paid up member of the Ramblers organisation, you can ignore any waitlist you may find yourself on.
We don't ask you to pay to join us on your first three walks. Afterwards, in order to continue walking with our group, you must become a paid-up member of the Ramblers. The walk will start from the car park at Berwick station after the arrival of the train.
