Walk details

Please Note: this walk will likely be muddy/boggy/with large puddles in a number of places. It is essential that you wear appropriate footwear such as walking boots/shoes or trail shoes that are waterproof.

Starting from Aldermaston Train Station, we head over the canal and then head uphill in the direction of Padworth College. At the top of the hill we then head in the direction of Padworth Common an area of open access land.

We then navigate through a number of wooded areas and these were muddy at the time of recce and that was a month ago and we've had a significant volume of rain since then so we will experience mud, puddles and boggy ground.

After passing the boggy bits, we will head down a country lane, before heading in the direction of the village of Aldermaston. After passing through a few fields we then have a short bit of road walking into the Village, where we may find refreshment at the Hinds Head, time permitting.

Finally we head back towards Aldermaston Wharf, along Fisherman’s Lane, however if this is significantly waterlogged, we will divert via the cycle path back into Aldermaston.

The walk will end at the Aldermaston Wharf Tea Rooms just across the road from the station. I have booked space for 20 hungry walkers in need of cake/tea/coffee etc… If we are more than 20 then there is outside space available dependant on the weather.
