Return Services: x:22 & x:52 until 22:22 then last train at 22:53.
Extra: No toilets at Walk Start or en route, so please use the ones on the train. Optional pub visit at the end of the walk. This will be at the Distant Hills Brewery Tap as it has lots of external seating and is great on a nice day. This is about a mile from the train station so 11 miles into the walk - see below for directions if you wish to continue back to the station:
From the Tap to Glossop station: walk past the tap, head slightly right at the junction aiming for the church in front of you, keep it to your left. Just after this, you will cross to a pavement on the left side of the road, follow this to a cross roads, with a post box on your left and a flower bed across from you, Turn left here and in about 300 metres you will come into the centre of Glossop with the train station on your right.
This is a walk which principally visits the moors overlooking Glossop, Eastern Manchester and Stockport, hopefully on a day when good views are available.
We have a couple of steepish ascents to get and down. Most of these are on reasonable terrain, though some of the route down from Higher Shelf Stones trig point can be a little tricky, with soft landings if the peat is wet.
You will need to bring lunch, snacks and drinks. Gaiters are probably a good idea. Please also bring waterproofs, a warm hat and gloves.
