Overview

Starting from the pretty village of Cawthorne, we take in its lovely 17th century parish church which contains many Pre-Raphaelite features. After crossing fields and footpaths, we arrive at Hoylandswaine church where we have a short lunch stop. Our return gives wonderful views over Barnsley and we enter Silkstone where the parish church has interesting gargoyles and a monument to the 26 children who died in the Huskar Pit disaster in 1838.
