We are the Mid Staffordshire Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Meet on car park, ref: SJ217420 Mill Street, nr.Ponsonby Arms (temporarily closed) off A539 in the town centre, by 09.30. We will depart on 09.55 from Llangollen Station for the short ride to up to start of walk. This linear walk starts from Glyndyfrdwy Station on the River Dee and follows a route up gradual ascents through woods until open country is reached all on good paths. The route then follows the northern edge of the Cerriog Forest, with magnificent views of Snowdonia as the summit of Vivod Mountain is attained (1834 ft). The walk off is on excellent firm paths in a gradual descent to Llangollen affording wide ranging views of valleys, forests and pasture land.
The short train trip is an enjoyable feature as it meanders up to Glyndyfrdwy Station following the course of this famous river with close up views from the heritage style carriage. The train departs at 09.55. I have alternative arrangements in mind should the train not be running on the day.
