Overview

From our start point we head south along a tarmac road before turning right onto a path which leads to Tibby's Bridge. Further on we turn left onto a grassy track to begin our ascent of Wardlaw Hill. The route to the top is quite badly eroded and boggy in parts. The top of the hill is indicated by a large cairn. From here we follow a fence line along a feint track (very boggy in parts) until a good path is reached. Following this path downhill, we will look out for a small cairn on our right which indicates a track leading to the Bible Stone. We will spend some time here before re-joining the path, which leads to the Sanquhar bridge and beyond returning to our start point.

Walk leader. Ken Stow 07543698477. I WILL TRAVEL DIRECTLY TO THE START POINT. Meet at London road at 08.50 for car sharing and 09.00 start. Please let me know if you intend to go directly to the start point. From Kilmarnock take the A76 south to Mauchline, then turn left at the traffic lights to Sorn, then beyond to Muirkirk. In Muirkirk turn right onto Furnace Road (just before the traffic lights). Follow this road past the caravan park to our start point on the left. This walk is quite boggy in places, so I strongly recommend the use of good boots, gaiters and walking poles.
