Having crossed the Wade Bridge, we will climb steeply up to atmospheric Weem Rock with its ancient and more modern rock carvings. We will then descend through the car park by Castle Menzies and pick up the path beside the River Tay. After following the river westwards we head to Camserney and begin a sustained, but not steep, ascent through Tay Forest Park on the hillside above Weem Rock before dropping back down to Aberfeldy. Spectacular views. There are some sheer drops but these are away from the paths we will follow.
Slippery and damp around Weem Rock. Poles recommended. Although arguably the most interesting part of the walk the Weem Rock section can be avoided. Leader will join walk at starting point.
After recce: Although previous comments remain, the leader has decided to regrade the walk to local grade B, because of the amount of ascent. The descent, although straightforward, could be tiring. He has also increased the mileage to 9 miles from 8.5 miles.
Local grade B RADO
Please book a place with the walk leader at least 2 days before the walk.
