Overview

We will meet on the corner of Calder Street next to the traffic lights.
This walk starts with a long incline up to the halfway point with steeper descents and flat sections on the return leg to West Vale.
Starting with a short walk along Stainland Road heading into North Dean Wood past Clay House,  continuing up a steep section where at the top we continue along a narrow path on the edge of a steep drop overlooking Copley and Sowerby Bridge, eventually the path opens up onto open fields, continuing up towards Norland Moor crossing Norland road before entering the moor, at the far end of the moor we will stop for lunch.
After lunch walking along the road for a short section towards a footpath, following the path down to branch road, walking along the road we will join a path that follows the river back towards West Vale, the last section will be pavement.

Parking will be along Calder Street, this is free unrestricted parking, public carpark available on the other side of the junction, as well as on street parking along the main road. The 501 bus runs between Halifax and Huddersfield every 10 minutes and the stop is just around the corner from the meeting point. No public toilets available. There is a Tesco across the road form the starting point as well pubs and cafes. Your Sat Nav may take you along Alfred Street & Church Street, these are back roads and are full of pot holes, I recommend heading to the traffic lights.
