This walk is unusually flat. The walk takes us alongside the old Bovingdon Aerodrome with views across towards Berkhamsted passing film studios and prison. We then take a shortcut through side-streets to Bovingdon Green where we come into Boxmoor Trust nature reserve. It may be that we come across their herd of goats if we are lucky. Then we go behind the brickworks to Pudds Cross. We take a drovers lane to bring us back to the fields leading to Whelpley Hill once more. We pass very close to an ancient monument - although looking like an ordinary field it is the site of one of 150 Iron Age Hill Forts in this country callled "Slight univallate hillforts".
The pub is small so early booking if staying for lunch is greatly appreciated so we can take a table or two.
Please let the walk leader know with your lunch choice by 9th March if at all possible. This pub strives to provide high quality. There is a menu choice on the website of the White Hart which is quite expensive so please review this but also I have been given an additional menu.
