Overview

From Llanelltyd there is a short car shuttle to the walk start from Ganllwyd. We ascend West through deciduous woodland alongside the Afon Gamlan with it's impressive Rhaedr Du waterfalls to emerge into open ground where the old Cefn Coch gold mines are situated. The route follows the mine remains steeply up & then through heather clad rocks & grassy slopes to the summit of Y Garn, where the views of the main Rhinogydd ridge are impressive. The descent to the south brings us out to the western end of the New precipice walk with magnificent views of the Mawddach estuary & a final leg of the descent takes us through woodland down to Llanelltyd.
