Overview

A 9.5 mile circular walk covering the Gloucester Shipping Canal between Slimbridge and Sharpness.

Starting from Slimbridge public car park, this will be a varied walk, along the canal where we will hopefully see varied wildlife. Sites of interest en-route include Purton Hulks, the site of the tragic Severn Bridge disaster, Sharpness Marina and Sharpness working docks. We'll then circle back round to Purton via rolling fields before doubling back to Slimbridge along the canal.

Walking boots recommended, although this is not a challenging walk.

Many parts of the walk are exposed - suncream advised.

Bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink.

On return to Slimbridge we can rehydrate ourselves at the Tudor Arms.
