Overview

A circular walk of 6 miles from The Butcher's Arms, North End, Dunmow. We visit the Norman 11C Pleshey Castle with its 15m high motte and well-preserved southern bailey, and return via sundry isolated farms and quiet lanes. Never sacked, the earthworks are largely intact although Pleshey village has surplanted the original northern Bailey.

Those lunching will be able to pre-order from 09.45.
