We start at the spectacular Aira Force Falls, an 18th-century pleasure ground, Aira Force was the backdrop for William Wordsworth’s poem ‘Somnambulist’ . Aira Beck is a thunders down a 65-foot drop past ferns and rocks. There are a number of steps and level pathways.
From here, we go on a clockwise loop around Gowbarrow Park.
There is about a two mile section walking along a quiet ‘B’ road through the beautiful Cumbrian rural countryside with lovely views. We then start to climb and go around the south side of Gowbarrow Park, along the ‘Ullswater Way’ Spectacular views start to open up with Ullswater below us and the Cumbrian hills in the distance. This rugged path is very undulating and is popular with Fell runners and Walkers. We climb to 1,260 feet. It can be challenging in places so will be taken at our own pace. The path goes all the way back to the Aira Force CP.
